Sheridan Strike Fund Hardship Request Policy

HARDSHIP APPLICATION CRITERIA

The Hardship Fund can assist only with essential needs that have occurred since your strike date. When applying for Hardship, applications must be complete and accurate. Accounts must correspond to the individual applying for hardship (or their spouse). Hardship checks will be made payable only to the creditor (i.e., utilities, etc.).

Copies of statements for utilities, mortgages/rent, car payment, etc., should be submitted along with the application.  This is to ensure the confidentiality of individual accounts.

The following will be considered as priority hardship:

  • Utilities

  • Mortgages/Rent

  • Auto Payments

  • Medical Bills

The following will not be considered for hardship assistance:

  • Phone/Internet/Cable fees

  • Credit card payments

  • Storage fees

  • All other non-essentials

The initial contact to your utilities/creditors should be made by the applicant, not the Hardship Committee, to arrange some type of payment plan.

All applications will be reviewed by the SEA Strike Fund Committee who will determine the priority of each application based on need and strike activity/participation. While every effort will be made to financially assist members, funds are limited, there is no payment guarantee.

Members requesting hardship assistance should make every effort to request a payment plan or assistance from their creditor or utility provider.
