Who we are
The Sheridan Educators Association is the labor union representing certified and classified employees in the Sheridan School District in Sheridan, Colorado. From bus drivers and classroom teachers to cafeteria workers, counselors, paraprofessionals, office staff, and custodians, our members are the educators and school staff who keep schools running every day and who know firsthand what students and staff need to succeed.
We are united in the fight for safe schools, stable working and learning conditions, and real solutions that put students and educators first. That means demanding functional safety infrastructure, working conditions that reduce staff turnover, and collaborative pathways that respect educator expertise and lead to lasting solutions for students and staff.
What are we fighting for
-
Right now, educators are working in buildings where doors do not properly lock and emergency communication systems are inadequate or unreliable. These failures put students and staff at risk every day.
Sheridan Educators are demanding basic, functional safety infrastructure and clear, enforceable protocols so schools are prepared before a crisis, not scrambling during one.
-
Sheridan currently has one of the highest staff turnover rates in Colorado. Constant churn means students lose trusted adults, classrooms are disrupted, and remaining educators are stretched thinner each year.
Sheridan Educators are fighting for fair working conditions that keep staff in our schools, strengthen relationships with students and families, and create consistent learning environments.
-
The district has refused to honor the contract, undermining trust and collaboration.
Sheridan Educators are calling for real, collaborative pathways that respect agreements, center educator expertise, and ensure strong learning conditions for students alongside fair, sustainable working conditions for staff.
